Hello everyone. I'm currently working on my senior project for my graduation portfolio next year. It is going to be a medieval village environment set in a jungle. I'm going to be eventually building it inside of UDK. Please feel free to critique my work.
There are some meshes that have very high poly count for what they are. The brick wall can be flat planes/boxes and the column has a ton of edge loops that aren't making a difference to the silhouette. That is unless there are high poly bases prepped for scultping?
Your "brick wall" is stack bonded - almost never used because it's such a weak method of construction. Google "running bond" and "quoining" for refs for your brickwork and medieval corner details. Add a lintel to your doorframe too. These kind of details will help your construction look a great deal more believable.
Thank you guys for the critique. Mistry10 I have to have all of my initial work done by the first week of Nov, then I have 6wks after that to polish it up. Yeah JamieRIOT I plan to sculpt most of the meshes in Mudbox. Most of the meshes like the columns are high poly right now because I haven't retopologized them yet. Saturnfive I was thinking the same thing about my bricks, I will change them. I will also add the lintel to my doorframe.
Sorry its been awhile since my last update. I just finished the blockout in UDK and am currently working on UV unwrapping my assets to begin texturing.
