Hello!

My name is Annie, I'm currently a student aspiring to be an Environment Artist. Here are some WIP shots of an environment that I am working on for my portfolio. There aren't any normals on it yet but any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The only thing I have to say is that the transition from the ice to snow is to harsh. But it's looking good so far.

looks great as a start, but i would like to see some stylization pushed further like slight curves on the walls roof, and the posts, and some slight colored gradients to really push that cartoony look it has already.
something like this style maybe...

If you get the stylization of that reference nailed you'll be golden! Looks cool so far. Other thn what everyone has has stated not much else to suggest.

it's cute! I like the style. my suggestion would be to frost up the edges of the windows, add window/door frames, and maybe a little bit more snow on the building itself? I like how the planks in this reference have snow along the top edges. it adds depth

Hello Annie! It's Calvin. I really love the environment you're envisioning, but the one thing that is clashing in your environment are the colors. I think the warm colors of the cabin is clashing with the dull, cool colors of the environment surrounding it. I think if you desaturate the wood colors on the cabin and add more blue or purple into the brown, then I think the woods will blend in with the cool colors of the snow.

Other than that, I love the environment so far! Can't wait to see more.

Your lighting doesn't seem to fit your environment. The foggy background is good but the light on the cabin seems to throw it off because its to intense. I think if you lowered the intensity of the light, it might balance out the colors that Calvin was talking about. The textures look amazing though.

My biggest suggestion would be to push your model style more as suggested above. The planks on the deck are the same size and length, the porch is just a box, the stairs are perfectly flat -- the building itself seems to have a slight taper on it and that highlights the flatness of everything else for me. I think your art style is beautiful and I have nothing to suggest with your textures. I would like to see some more items and story on the right side of the cabin -- maybe a small snow covered hedge or a fishing pole with the line frozen in the lake or something.

Oh, just realized I'm not a big fan of your windows -- some framing or something in there would go a long way I think

Hey guys! I'm back with a small update on how my cabin is going so far! I tweaked the snow a little, I'm not sure if I'm liking it thus far, it almost looks a bit dirty now? Tell me what you guys think! I should be back later this week with an update that pushes the stylization more.
