Noodling around with this in my spare time.
The overall design is not settled, it should be but I'm kind of enjoying the overall iteration process and changing things as I go. I haven't done to much high sci fi stuff so it feels nice to experiment.
Wow, really nice work, mate. Super impressed!
No real crits. except that some of the holes on the top section look oval, rather than circular as I would expect them. Also you could prob. do with bevelling the edges of the top fins as they look a tad too sharp for baking.
Thanks buddy, I don't know yet. A 4k maybe. Why not?
Yeah andy, i need to do a proper one. Still kinda facking around with the overall design to get into the nitty gritty. As for the top of the fins, maybe that's just because I've mirrored them and haven't merged the verts?
Looks great to me! One thing that might help is to simply take a screen shot and do a paintover in photoshop. Some times I forget to do this myself, but its a really great way to visualize how you want it to look and get some new ideas. Plus its super fast.
Keep it up man!
looks pretty dope. i like how things are put together and how the overall ratio of large medium and small shapes as well as how they are positioned.
One thing currently and im guess you just haven't gotten to it, the main body doesn't seem to have much direction in how its put together? i don't know if that makes sense. keep it going. going to be sweet and 4k! for sure why not this isn't for a game!
Great, really cool design
Is this based on a concept or you make things up as you go?
I did a little paintover where I highlight some parts.
Red: Personally I did not like the pinching in this part, to me it looks a bit weird, maybe if it was different panels it would look more believable.
Green: This part is repeated too much, seems a bit softer than the rest of the model. And all the "holes" don't make sense, not that it have to for it to be a cool design
Blue: I felt the panel at the top break the flow with not curving with the rest of the leg, I did a little wrap on it to show what I mean.

What texture resolution and what kind of maps are you shooting for?

Working alot with the sideview now, very unsexy.
