I just found out about this contest yesterday and it looks to fun to resist! I will be doing Breath of Fire 3! I want to do something similiar to this




Here is a quick concept of Ryu I drew up during lunch


later tonight I will refine Ryu's concept and create Teepo's concept and hopefully have the models started

I got Ryu's mesh done and roughly textured.. I will finish his textures later, for now I would like to focus on the environment.

@Hazardous Thanks! and yeah I really enjoyed fishing in Breath of Fire! I haven't played Dark Cloud 2 yet but its on my list of games to play.

I ran into a few issues that will alter my original plan

first problem I have encountered is that you cannot have a single sided material, which kind of ruins what I wanted to do with the water a bit.



also I am having issues getting the transparency on my trees to work properly.

this is how I wanted it to look and also the different type of maps I tried using for sketchfab opacity

I think I found a solution for my tree opacity problem but it still has some problems but its not really noticeable unless you view it from certain angles.

I would like to know your opinions on which tree I should go with for my Diorama... the one with no alphas or the one with alphas.

I had an issue like that. The only way Ive managed to fix it so far is to have the part of the mesh that needs transparency to have its own texture. So in your case the leaves and the bark would need to be separate textures

Hey guys! here its a little rough right now but heres another update

I still have lots to do but I should have no issues finishing on time.

here is what I still need to do

- Finish Ryu and Teepos textures
- Make a fish and a lobster (Teepo is holding a placeholder)
- Water Splash Sprites
- Birds
- Many texture touchups.
