So I've been working on this sword (so far I've called it "The Slithereen's Thorn") but I'm pretty stuck on what to do here.
I am by no means a great modeler. I'm only just a beginner, however I really want to finish this sword and see it in the workshop one day.
I'm quite happy with the blade, but the handle is something I'm still working on. I'm accepting any and all constructive criticism and I would be more than happy to send the file to someone for help.
If anyone wants to collaborate with me on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

This was the final concept drawing I came up with, if that's what you're asking for.
Are you going to bring it into the sculpting software later?
Is it going to be asymmetrical?
Basically you can go for mirrored model and get bigger texture res because of that, or you can go for the unusual design and compensate the loss of texture density for more geometry.
3ds Max and PhotoShop are the only two things I have. I could always download a trial version of something though.
I drew out a design for that middle area to make it symmetrical, so I'll try to get to that later tonight and see how it looks (or how well I can pull it off lol)
It's completely symmetrical now.
I would like to request some aid in unwrapping this thing. I'm having a terrible time trying to do it by myself, and it seems too complex for me to do as a beginner.
If anyone is experienced in this sort of thing, send me a message and I'll send the file over to you. I would like to do the actual texturing myself though. I just need help creating the UV map for it.
