Hey Polycounters!
It's been a while since my last post as I've been doing a good job lurking in the shadows. However I wanted to share with you a piece of fanart I've just completed: Avacyn, The Angel of Hope.
I'm sure the MTG fans out there will recognize this (not so little) angel. Despite being an incredible (albeit expensive) bomb, I was immediately taken by the art for the card done by Jason Chan. And some of you might already know, I've kinda of got a thing for the guys art. Either way, I wanted to make a game model to (hopefully) do the card a bit of justice and add a new piece to the portfolio.
This is what I came up with:
Here are some Zbrush renders for you high poly nuts out there:
Well that's it!
Thanks for taking a look. ^^

What would you do to the textures to help them out?
how did you do those amazing wings so smoothly!
And yeah the wings are great, and overall design aswell!
my only concern is (and do note, i'm not really character artist), that maybe the lower area is too dark or rather, upper half have this nice contrast, white and black, while lower area is almost completely black, so the upper area kinda taking too much focus away from lower part. Maybe if you add just very slight color/value variation in the lower part, just so that it would be a bit more balanced with the upper body.
Otherwise, great work!
The wings though, looks F*cking badass. Nice work.
I will revisit the textures and work on the contrast. I also think that doing a perspective shot would be a good idea.
you guys are awesome!
I made a feather in Zbrush (a few feathers actually) and placed them all individually to get the silhouette I wanted. That's pretty much it.
EDIT: and dynamesh to hold it all together.
