I'm going to take a shot at making a diorama of Manny's Bar (from Grim Fandango) with Manny and Glotis behind the piano.
Here's some reference I will be using:

I'll also be taking a look at Schafer's reference (and one of my all time favorite movies) Casablanca

Just a quick and dirty block-in.
Not happy with all the proportions, but I just wanted to get an idea of how I was going to display the scene.
I'll build everything to real world scale for the final piece, obviously.
Did some of the props, C&C is always welcome!
@SentryTheGod: I agree with the composition thing, but I've chosen an interior scene, looking at traditional dioramas this seems to be the way to go. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them!
@Schrodinger's Backface: (Epic username) Yeah, me too. I'm going to have to mix influences from Casablanca, with Mexican and Cuban inluences, so yeah hope that works out.
A little update
I like where this bar scene is going but i would spice up the layout more. The simple rectangle layout is sorta bland. I would add a "L" shape ( or any thing else asymmetric ) to the general layout.
Check out this concept art for DE:HR and how he presented these little "vertical slice" of the level. Pretty cool.
Grim Fandango is one of my favorite games of all time. have fun!
I checked out your portfolio website, you've got some great stuff on there!
Tried out the L-shape MikeZoo mentioned, made it a lot more interesting to look at, thanks man!
