I'm going to try out this contest. I love dioramas and Mirror's edge and this contest has taken my attention all day. I was planning on doing something with this image in higher poly/current gen techniques with normal mapping, global illumination, etc. but this contest seems way too cool and since it is fan art anyway, why not?
Sorry J Cri.
I'm not sure how I'm going to accomplish everything I want with lighting at this point since it looks like Sketchfab only support two directional lights, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. The other thing I'm concerned about is getting in grunge where I might want it since I don't have decals or texture blending and I'm guessing I may need to repeat some textures, but, again, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Maybe if this turns out well I will go back at it and make it higher poly because I would like to work on my sculpting and normal mapping.
I'm gonna get started now with a block out and I'm thinking about blocking out Faith in a day or two.
If you would like to watch and/or hangout I'll be here:

I think I was shooting for too much when I started fleshing this out a bit. I think with only two weeks left I'm going to have to cut it down to just the hallway since that's what I seem to have fleshed out the most and the rooftop of that. So, basically it will be like a shoe box. I'll just try and take some of the props I had in mind for elsewhere and try and incorporate them into the shoe box. I think that will be my next step and then I'm going to work on Faith.
Some updates:
I think I am finished modeling the environment at this point. I think I have to be anyway because I am running out of time. I would love to get some crits on what people think of what I have so far. I tried to balance everything out in terms of models to look at from all over the diorama and I used the wire and will use color to hopefully keep the eye moving if you are looking at it from the front. I know there is one fairly boring/simple building side on the right if you are looking at it from the front. I may revisit that towards the end if I have time.

I wanted to make sure I got the process down for getting something into SketchFab before the last minute so I textured the trashcan real quick and tested out the process by uploading my .fbx file of my scene with lights, materials, etc.
I wish I had some more options with the background without having to go with the Pro license, but oh well. I also put some SSAO on there. I'll probably have to take it off before the contest is over because I can't imagine them allowing it, but I kind of like it so I'll leave it for now. I'm also not sure if I'll do the texture filtering option yet or not. Anyway, lots more to do and test out.
I saw a thing on the FAQ that suggested not to go above 16 something, but I'm not sure if that was definitely referring to materials and/or textures or not.
"Textures
Sketchfab supports textures, normal maps, specular, diffuse, transparency, lights... If you have textures to upload, you can zip your texture files together in a folder (.jpg or .png, not supported yet: .tiff) together with your material file (.mtl) and your model file and directly upload the .zip file. Make sure not to exceed 16 texture units."
I'm not sure what the 16 texture units you're not supposed to exceed is referring to. If anyone could shed some light on this that would be great.
Got most of the textures done. 3 more to go and then I need to finish the character model.
Any crits? I'm not really feeling how it's coming out. Maybe it's because of the building or because I've been staring at it for too long. Or maybe I just suck, lol.

My texturing on this project stinks. Hopefully I will be able to work on the textures more in the last couple of hours, but I'm pretty happy with the model.
I also rigged and posed the character. I changed up the scene a lot and tried to make it more epic, more on that in the next post, but here is a look at the rig and pose now.

Updated
I feel a little better about the textures once bilinear filter is off. Still gonna try and tweak them a smidget though.
