Hi Polycount
This is my large personal project which I'll be releasing for various games, mainly Arma 3.
Goal of this project is to create customized M16 platform for every major role in-game.
So far I have planned:
PDW version
Carbine version
Assault Rifle version
Marksman rifle 7.62
Squad support rifle.
*Also, I'm available for freelance*

Also, if this is an M4/M16 you might want to add the hole for the auto-sear above the fire selector.
Ignore anything that is actually this way in your ref, mostly doing this from memory
1) Don't know the exact name of these things, but they are huge, seems like 5-10% to small, and the edge seems a bit small
2) Seems like this was modelled on top the receiver while it should be 1 part?
3) Seems a bit small
4) Trigger is to narrow
right to 4) Not nicely aligned, it's subtle, but if it would be aligned, it's just that cherry on the cake
5) This is a button that actuall goes in, seems like a better idea to add a floater for the whole, and then do the button seperate, or add a indent around the button floater
6) Maybe just the lighting, but seems like there is a edge that causes a bit of creasing
7) Seems off, mostly the actual tube (needs that rectangular part at the bottom so the stock doesn't turn), and the way the rest of the stock connects to the front part
8 ) Don't know why you changed these sort of angled ribs to the small ones
Personal preference maybe, but if your ref was different, maybe change it to this, seems more interesting, and would bake better/look better from a distance.

9)Should be obvious
10) The elevated part should be in the center of the sloped part (just looks a lot cleaner.

also seems to be missing a couple of edges to control the rounding on the elevated parts.
11) personal preference, but usually there is a bit of that "threading" showing, just adds a bit of interesest in FP view
(don't know the right english word, the stuff on the left/front side

Excellent feedback, thanks a lot! I'll look into it!
Not at all.
There you go: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69829
I'm also doing some post in photoshop to make them pop.
Tbh honest, If you just wanted to get the pieces out and done, I think these pieces would proceed fine. But personally, I'm not fine with fine ^_^ I'd slow down and pay more attention to ref, and just focus a bit more on polish. Especially if your looking for work. These could be really impressive I think !
I really like the idea of the project. Looking forward to seeing it progress.
Changed a bit couple things according to critique, however I'm not going to make a marshmallow gun, I want to keep tighter normal map for realistic shading in 1p view because arma 3 got weapon models pretty close to screen.
Besides, having soft details close to camera completely breaks the material definition. dealwithit.gif
why is the sight now on the left and so small ? Also Im no big fan of the new muzzle brake tho, the round end dosnt look very aesthetic and neither goes along well with the form of your gun.
Love that kind of ironsight in FPV
It's a small reflex sight on a special mount for aiming with grenade launcher.
Muzzle devices will be replaceable in-game, no worries, both will be included.
Assault rifle version (this one) got longer front rails and barrel, I added this thin muzzle brake to go with overall length
Otherwise, Looking pretty smooth. That FP View is looking pretty awesome
Edit: That dial as well on the iron sight, the little ridges on it may be to fine to read well on the bake.
Spring is alright, made it big in the UV, You're right about those little ridges as it was baked with 2048, might get lost in 1024
(Already textured and baked some of those attachments, presented hi poly for consistency)

It's also sporting KAC Mk12 Mod1 rail, this one is modified a bit, I made it longer couple inches to make it look better.
Muzzle device is SFMB
have a great weekend everyone
Also, I've taken the criticism and improved safety and close area
I also created my official facebook fanpage, where I'm going to post all ARMA 3 weapons and other weapon/videogame projects I'm working on, make sure to check it out if you like my models, Thanks

Mesh is messy on flat surfaces where it doesn't break shading, keep that in mind
this is a minor point but some of the edges are slightly melty, they only have one support loop on each side when they really need two on each side. it's especially noticeable on the division between the receivers.
