Xnormal error (GOING CRAZY!)

Hi there!

Ok so I am new to normal mapping, I created a low poly mesh in Maya and exported it to Sculptris for ...well...sculpting.

I attempted to generate a normal map via xnormal but keep getting this error message...

"Invalid function parameter 'msh': The mesh default has a UV pointing to a non existent vertex."

What does this error mean and how do I go about solving the issue?

Thanks in advance!

Mesh is missing uvs or the uvs are only partially there(ie uvs for some faces but not others).

Make sure if you have multiple uv sets to delete any extra ones on your lowpoly before exporting. Highpoly does not need uvs.

This is an old thread but...

I always do a full cleanup.
You can also just do a full cleanup...

    1. Merge verts and uv's, check Uvs for overlapping, fix non manifolds, triangulate etc.
    Delete history, freeze transforms/xform.

    2. If that doesnt work, duplicate your model and combine it with a new object like a Box.
Delete its history and try that...

    3. If that doesnt work, export as obj, import it back in, then duplicate it, combine with a box and export again for baking.

Duplicating and combining makes a fresh model..
Exporting as obj, and reimporting seems to flush history
