Hey Guys, I'm an 3D Artist currently working on the Halo - Anyway please check out this little game I made in my freetime called "Neptoon's Net"-
Bit about it:
The world's oceans are polluted and Neptoon needs your help! Join Neptoon in a global cleanup adventure where you take part in making our planet a better place! Throw, bounce, and collect all the floating trash into Neptoon's Net! Many of the ocean's animals are here to help you on the job - Toss the trash to them for a helping hand or fin! 10% of sales go to organizations dedicated to oceanic cleanup around the globe.
Looks very nice. Going to check it out in my lunch break.
Can you tell us a bit about the project? what engine did you use, team size, etc? (If you post on Polycount expect to talk about this a bit, even if you want to advertise your game )

Absolutely I would love to talk some about it! I was hoping someone would ask
Ideation & Pre-Production
So about a year and a half ago I saw an awesome water simulation by Grant Kot ( www.grantkot.com/MPM/Liquid.html ) And I was looking for a challenge outside of work and the water simulation inspired me to do something related to that and I had heard of the "great pacific garbage patch", (all the floating debris in the pacific ocean). So that stewed around in my head for a while, and I did lots of ideation on game play and art and stuff over that next year, basically just putting on paper and word documents stuff I was thinking. I was going to do a playable proof of concept of the game in Game Maker ( www.yoyogames.com ) And then after that hire a programmer to help me figure out all the hard stuff like physics and basically help me get a real game together.
Production-
I wanted to start on the game demo back when I had finished the initial game design - But I was in the middle of crunching on Halo 4, and as such - had no time. So once Halo 4 shipped I had a few months off. December 2012 I started learning Game Maker, and tried getting a simple proof of concept together to see if the idea was actually as fun as I had hoped, which it was. But after using Game Maker for a while, I was like "Hey, I can do this all myself!" So I just kept plugging along, I tried not to get to hung up on the vastness of the project ahead of me, and broke everything up into small goals tackling one thing at a time, setting up collisions, gravity, scripting, game saving, pausing the game, etc, etc, etc! I had no idea what I was doing in Game Maker at the beginning so alot of what I made could be done WAY better technically. But that's learning as ya go! Ton's of trial and error and working hours on a few lines of code only to realize I made a simple mistake a few lines up! Success is sweet though once you figure it out!!! Play testing - family and friends feedback was immensely important, some of the greatest ideas in the game were from peoples feedback and suggestions!
Distribution -
So the game is out now - Awesome!!! Yes, but now I have to get the word out. And I'm already planning an expansion!
Well-
I set out to create something positive that I wanted to play, and something fun for all ages as well non gamers. I think I did those things, I'm extremely happy with the final result and I am definitely going to make more small games.
Please lemme know how you like it
Oh Yeah -
Team Size - Just me
Engine - Game Maker Studio.(Highly recommend it!)
Time - 2 months full time, and 5 months of free time.
