Fact is I'm a bit desperate with this issue...
I'm running windows 8 on a newly formatted & updated machine with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 660.
Everything's fine except for Maya. It just keeps crashing to desktop after launch (attepmting to save blah blah) and only feedback I get from the dmp file is:
Fault address: B8E68BDC in C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\CoProcManager\nvd3d9wrapx.dll
So... anyone with the same issue? any hints? help!

That's the problem. :P
On a more serious note, make sure you do a proper clean install of your graphics drivers using the advanced option on the nvidia installer.
On another note, maybe searching for a older version of nvd3d9wrapx.dll online and replacing the one thats installed maybe a solution, just make sure to backup your copy first.
lol I'm using maya on mac machine at work (ATI graphics) with no trouble (except for those magic moments when you forgot to save your day)
Your problem might be a bad installation of windows 8.
I am not sure if windows 8 has comparability mode like windows 7 and vista but if it does try setting it to windows 7 and run it.
You really should log these issues with your ADSK support contact. (if you haven't already)
