If you aren't up to date, spaceX is a private space company, founded and run by Elon Musk. This video is the latest in a series of tests on the way to make a reusable first stage rocket. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.

Keep in mind this thing is the size of an office block.

Hells yeah! I've been keeping tabs on all of the private space companies and I'm really looking forward to what SpaceX is doing. Virgin Galactic is pumping out some interesting things with Scaled Composites, but they are completely focused around getting tourists into low parabolic flight, while SpaceX looks like they'll be doing all of the cool stuff NASA should've been doing.

Damn, that 1st stage is 10 stories tall.

Yeah man it's ridiculous when you consider that a rocket is a machine the size of a mech that fucking flies.

I'm not too sure about scaled composites, I'm sure that they will have a lucrative time, but the technology to get to sub orbital is vastly different from orbital. So i'm not sure how they will scale up their business without completly changing their buisness model.

Yep! This is a test of the grasshopper, which is a man-carrying variation of the dragon capsule. SpaceX wants to send 80,000 people to Mars, for $50,000 each.

Huh.... is this supposed to be a joke, everything you just said is wrong.

Tickets would be $500,000, not $50,000. Grasshopper is a different program than dragon.

Actually got to go and tour SpaceX headquarters where they build the Dragon spacecrafts and rockets here in CA. Was so fucking cool!

Aw man Autocon! I'm so freaking jealous. The best i got was seeing a Merlin 1C at GDC.

If they manage to recover this first stage on the first go, I'm going to go fucking nuts with excitement.
