I'm using a student license for Mudbox, and I just downloaded 2014. When I first downloaded it, it worked just fine. The next time I tried to open it, it tells me "An unknown error has occured", then it crashes and I have to close it. I found a few "solutions" online but none of those have seemed to work, and Autodesk support is awful.
I'm posted it here just in case someone has been through this as well and has a solution. I've already tried updating drivers and reinstalling. I really wish Mudbox gave a more detailed description of the error instead of "An unknown error".

Otherwise try deleting your preferences in the documents/mudbox directory.
Just tried deleting my preferences. It prompted me to pick my controls/language again, but once it got past that, same issue. I came across that autodesk link earlier and it was no help. The hardware acceleration option is greyed out for me.
