Just a small update. I'm having a really tough time deciding what kind of backdrop to have with my port village. So far I have been using reference images of 18th century ports and buildings most particular, Port Royal from Pirates of the Caribbean films which my design and look is loosely based on.

Here is my first cliff which is close to my reference. The cliff is steep.

And here's my second option which resembles more like an island than a straight up cliff. It has a large beachhead and a steady slope with layers of hill.

My planned method after this is to have two tileable textures one being the rock face and the other being grass which ill vertex paint on the top parts. There will be another material for the beach head which will vertex paint a darker shade of sand near the water.

Which backdrop should I go with? If you where to make any changes what would it be? Can I have some crits for the look and layout of my scene?
