Hello there!

I was wondering about your professional opinion on modular houses. I've watched a tutorial, followed the instructions and I got a nasty result. Although I created all materials properly and lightmapped everything. I built this house piece by piece in the engine and it looks wrong... Whats your opinion, is modular houses are good idea? Or its going to be better to built a solid giant block.

What do you lightmap uv's look like?

Also, unless you need this to be this modular in game, it is best for performance to build out much larger and fewer pieces, rather then the dozens you have here.

Lightmap is okay, it's all done according to rules.

I tried making new material for the house and made large pieces like you said - seemed to work, thanks

what happens when you dont lightmap it? looks like lightmap uvs to me. Also, as far as if this should be modular goes- do you plan to reuse those pieces on other buildings? If so, then make the parts you want to reuse modular. Otherwise just model normally.

If everything else fails i would check my vertex normals. or smoothing groups per se
