Do we know if 5 will be a free upgrade like everything has been so far? Part of me is afraid they may charge for it since it'll be a big release. Any Pixologic peeps lurking?
seriously giving amazing low topo results, in seconds. so happy right now!
bounchfx, they will charge more (+100 dollars) after the month of july, sounds like it is a good time to buy it.
Seems to handle low-frequency shapes very well, medium-frequency shapes alright, and high-frequency shapes badly, at least without guides or polypaint weighting.
I'm actually super impressed with how it handled the hand topology.
Obviously it would need a bit of refinement, But I'm curious, Just how badly is the belt area mangled? Is it close enough to go in a Vert by Vert package and do a bit of cutting and welding? or is it just demolished in there? the close up looks manageable, But that zoomed out shot, There is a really dense spot there on his left hip.
I tested it out on a few dumb bricks and it worked well. Also tried it to re-topo a base subdiv and reconstruct with mixed results. Was getting strange holes & "pockets" that wouldn't reconstruct.
Dont' have any images to show, but doing a side-by-side compare of a 1k zremesh vs a 1k decimate mesh for quick-low poly meshes was night and day. Decimate had slightly better form but much worse geo.
I'd like to know who or what team put together the algorithm for this. Truly spectacular stuff. Huge congrats to Pixologic.
My guess is Verold had a hand in it since it replaces qremesher (which previously had a 'detect curves' button that always asked for the full version, which several people were confused about).
I'm curious to find out how it handles conversion to lower poly meshes than you guys have shown. Say a 3k triangle character model. Hopefully will be trying it out over the next few days.
Has anyone tried sort of iterating down to avoid tangling? E.g. simplifying a high poly mesh into a slightly less high poly, and repeating until you get down to a desired level?
I made a random mesh and it messed up a little ... I added a few guides and it came out perfectly. This looks so ridiculously good I expect to be waking up any moment now.
Anyone else have trouble installing this update? I dont have a floating license (which they said wont be available for another week), and yet zbrush 4r5 still doesnt recognize that there is an update?
This looks great I'll have to give it a shot but to be honestly I see nothing new I haven't already been doing in 3d-coat. That could change though once I experience it for myself.

this calls for celebration : )

Black magic craziness. I can't believe it works.
What have I been doing wasting all of my money on Maya?! PISS

And did that character have lips?
Thanks for posting examples.
Edit: Ninja'd
Fuck good, Or Fuck bad? It looks decent...right?

Just the other day I was wondering when there would be an announcement and BAM! we get this little gem today.
Am gonna test this biz out straight away!

I'm surprised and happy it works this well.

That's exactly what crossed my mind. Seems almost too good to be true.
"Magic, motha fucka"
