Blogger - Adult Content Policy Update?

Hey to all,

I wanted to bring something to attention, since I recently got an email with the following:

Important Update to Adult Content Policy on Blogger

You are receiving this message because you are the admin of a blog hosted on Blogger which is identified to have Adult content.

Please be advised that on June 30th 2013, we will be updating our Content Policy to strictly prohibit the monetization of Adult content on Blogger. After June 30th 2013, we will be enforcing this policy and will remove blogs which are adult in nature and are displaying advertisements to adult websites.

If your adult blog currently has advertisements which are adult in nature, you should remove them as soon as possible as to avoid any potential Terms of Service violation and/or content removals.

The thing is, I don't have any 'adult' material on my blog, other then odd 3d sculpt of an anatomy model or maybe zombie with spilt guts on the floor, which is hence weird for them to send out this email and tell me that I'm a digital pimp.

I contacted a few friends who also have digital boobies in their blog (not porn related mind you, again, just typical art stuff) and they confirmed they too got this email.

The wording in the email itself is strange, so I suggest checking out the Policy change itself here: http://www.blogger.com/content.g

If anyone wanted a heads up to 'sanitize' their content, move to another site, or maybe set their blog to 'Mature', I guess now is the time before the 30th?

Probably depends on the context. I doubt a figure drawing blog for example would get HOT SINGLES TO FUCK IN YOUR [approximated geolocation] AREA!!! banners.

'Adult' content is a very ambiguous statement and means little without subjective context. It can basically mean anything they decide they want it to mean.

Yeah, that's why I used myself as an example. I shouldn't even have gotten this email, but if they consider an anatomy doodle to be 'Adult', this could be a problem.

It sounds like it's only an issue if you have porn banners on your page. Which I assume you don't. Though you still might need a mature tag.

read what it says very carefully. it's telling you that your site has been flagged and will be in violation if you are displaying any advertising for adult content. if you're not advertising, then this means nothing to you.

maybe it's a crack down from tumblr? kids used to posting hardcore porn on their tumble blog making their way to blogger
