Sketchbook: Miss Modeler

Hello everyone, I've been a lurker on here for a while now and have finally decided to come out of hiding! :poly124: Feel free to critique anything you see in here. It's mainly going to be sketches and modeling. I'm a 3D Character/Creature modeler with a huge passion for monsters; I grew up watching horror movies and playing survival horror games, so I love all that kind of stuff! I'm currently looking for a job in the industry, and hopefully I get to meet some new people here. I'm super easy to get along with and I hope you enjoy the monsters I create.

My first post is going to be a model that I'm almost done with actually. I had a big HP Lovecraft inspiration not too long ago, and sketched up some of my own Innsmouth citizen designs. One of which I modeled here. Working on his eyes now; wanting them to be fish eyes and not human. After I finish with those, it'll be to render him out and put him in my portfolio.

that's if he is an alien. there is so many abstract human characters on polycount forums its hard to tell.

I'm liking the direction of this one. Keep it going, and be sure to add in some skin details. My immediate thought is to have some faint scale texturing on the neck and behind the ears to add a subtle hint at the transformation. I love the idea overall, haven't seen a lot of art relating to the Innsmouth story, good on you for not just doing another generic Cthulu.

Thanks for the comments so far guys! Have been spending the day today trying to think of an eye that I'm satisfied fits him well. I tried the full fish eye, but I'm liking a more human pupil with the rest of the eye as a fish's eye. Not sure which one I like more just yet, but I'm still playing around with it.

kcla: Thanks! Port of Innsmouth is such a good story, I couldn't help but want to make my own citizen. Cthulhu is cool and all, but he gets too much attention :P
I'll have to see what I can do with some scales

I like the sort of more opaque eyeball, not so vibrant compared to whole model, looks nice.

Found a cool concept art by Josh Singh of some satyrs and wanted to try my hand at modeling one of them! His work is inspirational and thought it would be really fun. Here's what I have so far, deciding on whether or not I want to delve into the world of adding body hair to him later on. Would be nice to learn and a good skill to have under my belt if so.

Blocking out the shapes in his face as well as putting muscle details into the legs and arms. He's coming alone nicely I think.

Back working with Maya for this one. I'm a big fan of Chocolatita's work, so I really wanted to turn this piece into a model. So I want to state this clearly; the concept work is not done by me, it is done by Anita Mej

Been a long while and thought my current personal project would be a great fit for showing on here. Still putting in his teeth and shaping out his gums, next will be the ears and other details.

Finally had some free time to work on this guy. Fixed proportions, added more teeth, added his ears, and going to add the neck next.

Putting a little update on here to show my newest model progress. Sculpting a severed zombie hand. Nearly finished at the moment, just want to go in and clean up some of the detailing and then going to texture it out and remesh into a lower poly version. Wanting to do this hand in bright/neon colors just for fun, but might also do up a more realistic version as well.
