im a mere hobbyist
wanted to participate in this contest to improve my skills
plus i need to make a bunch of these ( game ready complete models )
to make my portfolio with .
so i just really hope i can keep up with the guys here at this awesome forum
so to start off
here r some of the refs i gathered for my character
its all subject to change since im really not that good at not working from a specific concept :poly122: .

thought im really not sure about the cloth at the moment ( winter coat with shorts )

almost done with the modeling :poly142:
it was a bad decicion defining the character's cloth an gear as i go in the modeling phase ..
i hope i can make up the time i lost in the sculpting phase .. looks like a lot of guys already close to finish their character :thumbup:

im kinda new to zbrush so i havent figured out or used all the tools yet
there appears to be a ton of them
and man look at those stitching
feels good working with a program that can handle more than just 1 million polygons .

update :
( sorry for late update - something came up kept me busy the last 2 weeks )
back on track now - 7 days to go . so ill have to work on it for late nights to finish in time hopefully
high poly : ( cant spend more time on it )
some details : ( that beetle is an ancient Egyptian necklace )
low poly : ( almost done with the retopo )
im not sure how exactly to measure the triangles ( r they the same as the faces ? i got about 3k quad faces so far oh and i got a few triangles as well )
oh and i was not able to sculpt the inside of the mouth properly .. and now im not able to retopo it becuase i cant see it ( how do people work on that area

well iv been learning for about 2 years
still far from calling myself a decent 3D modeler
low poly done -
after i finished retopo i found myself with a 27k tris count
so yeah .. it was a pain reducing it to 20k
right now i got 20864 tris
and well .... having trouble baking maps from the high poly
xnormal keeps giving me an error ( external component has thrown and exception )
my guess would be its because the high poly obj file is to big in size ( 900 MB ) i didnt go this big before so not sure
