Retopo problem

Was making a barrier, sculpted high detail in Zbrush, brought it into Topogun then export to max.

The results I get are this. I have changed the smoothing groups, added new edges etc but cannot figure out why this is.

Edit:

If I turbosmooth it, the problem seems to go away, but that adds too many tris.
