A very productive series of evenings dude. Looking really good. Definatelt falls into the battered category. Nice placement on the props too.
Only crit i have is that in the first image, the graffiti (I'm assuming its a decal?) seems to darken in the area where the painting once hung. I get the reasoning for the dark area on the wall, however at the moment it seems that the area is shadow and not just an area hidden by dirt/splatter. Because i think the graffiti shouldn't be darker if it's on top. Plus i would assume that the areas behind the frames would have been slightly lighter than darker?
Really nice work though. I look forward to seeing it progress
Thanks for your comments. When I said a few evenings, I was being a bit flippant as it was more like several
I get what you're saying about the graffiti, I must have the decal order wrong so I'll need to move the graffiti above the darken decal. Good spot.
As for the darkening, I originally had it a lighter colour, but this was the effect you get in a home where dust builds up around the edges of the picture, or a smoker's home where the exposed walls get stained. I was going for the effect of the wall paper beneath having maintained it's colour, whereas the surrounding area is sun bleached. I imagined this would have been a clean home before whatever event caused it to be vacated. Admittedly it's a little over the top at the moment.
Well explained, i completely get what kind of effect your aiming to achieve. It's off to a really good start.
Yeah that was my first thought. I often forget about the order of my decal layers. Making me build lighting all over again and what not. My beef with UDK will never end...
