Hey,
I decided to start a environment project. The subject will be an Blacmith workshop. I was collecting some reference pictures from which I will create the pieces.
I dont try to optimize the assets for an real game usage, so they have a higher poly count and bigger maps. I dont know at the moment where the project will go, maybe i play a bit with animations and postwork and make something like a cinematic out of it.
First of all i start doing some smaller assets to get in the mood. (I hate doing blockouts of the scene, so I need some motivation first :P)
Here is my actual reference sheet:
Here is a Anvil I did (in Toolbag):
Feedback would be very appreciated!

Most anvils are rounded on the horn. Also, the way you have damaged the anvil seems like the anvil is made of a softer metal. These things are made to take a beating.
Things that make it seem soft : The long slits, these should probably be a lot shorter, a razor blade wouldn't harm an anvil like that and I don't believe someone would be grinding on an anvil.
The hammer marks on the corners are very indented. The metal that is being forged should take most of the impact.
I will see, if I rework it next time. Currently I'm doing the blockout of the Building. It will look like the yellowish concept piece cause I very like the shape.
Has anybody an advice where I could find a tutorial how to build shaders in Udk that look as good as the toolbag shading? Or where I could start to lern it? (I know google and the documentation of UDK. I want to know if it depends on the whole scene or if only a good shader make it look good - so i can search for the right stuff)
Something like a runic forest with a portal and a forge.
I started sculpting some stuff to get a feel what i exactly want to do. And started doing some FX in UDk.
This will be a floating island. Do you think the bottom part is okay or to repetitive? (I used the insert brush and took some rocks together)
A Stone
A Mushroom
