@Neox yeah Tide has already an octopus on his head:/ Sadly because I like your sketch allot more (fancy mustache). However this idea on the right is also pretty damn good @Bronto I think the hairline is a bit to high. Cant wait to see it refined
I think it's pretty awesome what you guys are doing here for the game but I have some suggestions for when have a vote next time. When posting the votes you should show people the available heroes to work with in the shop. http://www.dota2.com/workshop/requirements
Hy guys ,I've had 0 set/items idea this weekend so I'm gonna pull an old sketch for tidehunter . I havent seen any seashell motif on tidehunter weapons so I've decided to make one.
Came up with a ward I think would suit Kunkka should he ever start playing support :P.
Any suggestions?
colours don't really suggest kunkka at the moment. also the design's a bit too square and generic, i think you should have some tapering bits and try to integrate some details and texture from kunkka himself. like some of that classy gold trim
Was sketching out a few variations of my Kunkka ward when I came up with this. I think it suits his character better then my first design. Also took what you said into account BeetrootChan.

Now that's what I call a Kunka ward! I realy love the idea with the bandana.
This has inspired me to give it a try myself.
Since there's a severe lack of Natures Prophet wards I'll see if I can come up with something interesting.
I'm always awestruck by the creativity you guys can pump out!
Color change...I dunno if it's better. I have mixed feeling about it..What do you guys think?
I think the grey & blue gose much better. I do like the contrasting colour on the origonal, but all the dota characters have set colour pallets and your re-colour fits tide's colour pallet better.
Has anyone been successful in rigging invoker's cape? I'm looking for some wisdom. There is 2 bones named Invoker_Cape_New (Front/Back) so is it safe to say that valve has taken it upon them to rig it? Or is that too optimistic?
i haven't tried - but i can tell you what i did with Skywrath's belt. He's got 3 or 4 bones for it..i just used the one closest to the end of the cape and rigged from 1-0 from bottom to top - splitting between the one jiggle-bone(?) and the root.
i had tried using all 3 bones, but it didn't work so well...
Still working on a Kunkka set.
Have some ideas for the other items.
I think the Kunkka sets already waiting to be approved in the Workshop are amazing - like the one posted above by Robbiek1000.
I would also like to create a ward - but I'm not sure how that works.
here's a few weapon concepts if anyone wants to collaborate! will be working up some summons for nature's prophet and invoker in the next day or two if anyone is interested in that, too.
I am thinking of joining this monthly competition. Nature's Prophet is the character I want to go for.
I'm pretty new to dota, but I see this as an opportunity to develop some knowledge, share and get feedback and, most important, have fun
I'll post some concepts when I come up with something!
Considering there's now a prize involved we should probably set up a more solid method of choosing a winner.
they saw our competition and our awesome works and came with the idea =]
i agree with you Bronto, we need to make it solid
we had on the first month like 4 categories that we shrink to 3
sets
single items
newcomer item
if the sponsor just gives to one of the categories we will force people to go for that one
i already said them about those categories, we could go for one license for the best set, one license for the best single item and spotlight the newcomer item with a mention on the winners list
do you guys think it could work well this way? any other suggestion?
btw, i forget to mention, the guys one Handplane3d opened the use for the workshop submition
We dont consider steam workshop submissions something that would require a commercial handplane license. Workshop users can use the free noncommercial handplane build for their submissions.
so anyone that want to try, go for it =] i will test it as soon as i get some free time

thank you handplane, read that and downloaded
cheers mate
Hey man the spear looks really nice, but i just gotta ask: wouldn't it be weird to shoot yellow light bulbs out of a spear tip? If it were a melee hero , it would've been awesome, but he is ranged.:poly136:

All the custom items can have different particle effects (which most do). For example, the flower staff has orange yellowish pollen particles flowing out of the petals, but the default staff has a yellow glowing beam. It will not be yellow light bulbs . I want the particle effects to match his items with the blue spheres.

Oooh! Now i get it. Well then, can't wait to see how this turns out. The spear looks nice imho.:poly142:
2 handplane 3d licenses this month, one for the best set and one for the best single item
to keep it fair, i think we can select an item from a set to be elegible for the best single item, so we can vote first for the best set and after vote for the the best single item
should we exclude the winning set for the single item voting or just make the second place win the license in case of the winner set artist wins the single item too?
I would push this even further. It would be also cool if people would actually try to use handplane in their works. Showing the progress, describing workflow, etc. This could then allow item created like so to compete for the commercial licence. This approach would be both beneficial for handplane itself and for users. I would actually be most happy if someone with plans on using handplane would win a licence Anyway that is just mine sick idea, however maybe its to late for it in this month
I would love to have people using handplane for their entries but I don't want to force anyone to use our software in order to participate in the monthly challenge.

You should be able to use blender with the current version of handplane. Set your input map to "Auto Detect". Everyone should really be using that setting unless there is a problem with the output.

We can give it to the runner up or let the double winner gift a license to someone.
while going on and off with the nyx set i couple of weeks ago started, i thought, why not join in the competition for the fun of it. I kinda feel the need to improve my concept sketching skills.

Anyway here is my progress, now to coloring
to be honest ir doesn't look that good, but we think its going to be the ray
I noticed a lot of people on Reddit asking for items to be for heroes that can't be worked with yet. source: http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1fg48b/
You could have up a link showing all heroes items in DOTA2 already available to give people an idea who needs work done in the shop. http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Equipment http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Bundles
This information might help people better decide on which heroes need new items and help them vote.
Keep up the good work!
Any suggestions?
i have great news!
or competition is going to have a sponsor =] the guys behind handplane 3d offered to sponsor our competition!

soon i will give more info about it

Holy shit, that is beyond awesome!!! Big thanks!!
So cool!!
Did you seek them out or did they approach you?

It's a shame, really. Tidehunter needs an octopus moustache! :poly124:
I do like the ray better though, it looks enough like a hood that it works as equipment without looking like a comedy item.
I'm working on a Nature's Prophet set and wanted to show some progress shots.
I am planning on doing a custom Treant as well for him.
Here is the concept created by Terminus (all he could get finished for me on Friday at work, haha)
And here is a shot of the base models so far:
Heading over to Mudbox for sculpting fun! Will post shots when I'm finished.
Cheers all!
Hey Multi, realy like your Tide weapon B concept, are you doing modelling and stuff yourself? 'couse i'm willing to collaborate.
i had tried using all 3 bones, but it didn't work so well...

I'll be willing to do kunkka weapon b if i could
Edit: forget what i said I want to do a and b
hey man! thanks for your interest. the swords have been claimed by others.
it's just I just graduated from high school and now i have soo much time now to work on my 3d art

i guess i will be doing a more serious version with metal instead of a living creature as well, so people can choose
I really like the default cape and probably won't be doing a cape for him. But if some one posts an idea that fits the set , I may change my mind.
Until then, thanks in advance for any feedback.

Mihal, I like that club a lot, but I think you could get some better renders off with cool pearlecent spec colour and more dynamic lighting.
I will be posting the set on steam tomorrow.
I worked some more on the sword and changed the shoulders to blue. Things to do:
boots
neck
