I currently use 3DSMax 2011 with a Nvidia 8800GTX video card. This seems to give the best viewport performance. My newer Nvidia 560ti gives worse viewport performance in 3dsmax 2011. 3Dsmax 2012 and 2013 have always given worse viewport performance in both Nitro or Shaded mode with the 8800GTX and the 560ti. 3DSMax 2014 should have better viewport performance but with what video card? And will it be better that the combination of the 8800GTX with 3DSmax 2011?
- 770GTX = 680GTX nividia (GK104)
- 780GTX = Titan (GK110)

I have my 780 OCd stable to be a s fast as a Titan.
The 770 will preform a little bit faster than the 7970. It sounds like if youre getting bad preformance with a 560ti you might have driver issues unless youre trying to do some absurdly complex simulation or something. Or importing 40 million poly models.
With that said 780 is what I would get unless you can swing two 770s.
I am assuming you have not installed 2014 yet? I can assure you it is extremely fast vs 2013 even. I just import stuff I barely decimated and don't even noticed how many polys im using. Normally I'd really have to hid objects to get better performance, not anymore.
Hope that helps.
I'm running a Palit 560 ti 2gb and I have no problems in max, any version runs fine. I will say that in max 2014 I have noticed a big performance boost compared to 2012 which I use most of the time. I can get 15-20 mil polygons in the scene without to much sweat (if I have to that is)
What sort of FPS performance does the 670, 680, 770, 780 Series give with around 40 million polygons in 3dsmax 2014?
