Hey guys,
Decided to start a sketchbook here so I can journal my progress and hopefully get some help with my work.
Just a bit about me if you're interested. I'm 19 and am going to be going to be starting a traditional arts course in July so I wanted to try get as much knowledge under my belt as I can before I start. I hope to be a concept artist in games one day.
I have done a one year course in 2D Animation but I found it wasn't for me. I learnt a lot of really valuable skills doing animation though.
I have some pictures to post. Just some studies for now. I'd really appreciate as much criticism as I can get so don't be afraid to rip apart my work and tell me what i'm doing wrong.
Thanks for checking out my sketchbook, I'll try and contribute to the forum as much as I can.

I've done some more studies, the face just now and the environment a couple of days ago. Seems to have the same issues as the other drawings so I figure i'll just keep plugging on with these studies until the problems lessen.
I tried using the liquify filter to adjust the portrait painting but I just posted the original instead. The liquify helped a lot but it seemed almost like cheating to adjust everything afterwards.
It'd probably do me well to learn to get the proportions right with the underdrawing instead.
Thanks for looking. Criticism appreciated
I also just got a Cintiq 13HD and I really love it, I finally feel comfortable working digitally.
Battle Chicken:
This is an environment painting i'm working on for my illustration class, it's just rendered for now but i'll add colour later.
Comments and Criticism appreaciated.
Cheers.:)
Robot drawing:
Cheerrios. And yeah, I realize some aren't silhouettes, that was my bad.
Thanks for looking
We've started learning how to use shaders and textures in school this term and this is what i've been working on. We had to compose, light and texture a scene.
I learned so much while doing this, especially in terms of keeping files, geometry, textures organised for a faster workflow. I'd love some feedback on it.
Note: Geometry not made by me.
My finished render:
I've been doing a mentorship with Anthony Jones the last few months and i'm loving it. I've learned a boat load, and my attitude towards practicing and art in general has changed for the better.
Here's some stuff i've done
Oh I also finished modelling my mime character:
Cheers for taking a look at my work.
Not there yet, but progress I think.
Phew, dont think ive drawn that much in a while. I have to pick 10 of the bigger designs and iterate of them for my next assignment. Cheers for taking a look.
The last couple of days i've been working through Bad Kings zbrush tutorials and just got through the Bonesaw one. I also messed around with some polypainting and compositing BPR renders.
This was yesterday's efforts. Rendered in keyshot. Would love some critiques if anyone has any. Also I'm interested in learning how to retopologize high-poly meshes and baking normal maps. so if anyone knows any good resources for learning that, throw me a link. Cheers!
The character WIPS above were finished too and are on my portfolio website (link in signature)

Modular Environment :
Based this off some old-school shooters with a different kind of colour pallete. All diffuse.
