Hey guys! I've been looking for something like this for a while, and thought I would ask around here as well. I'm looking for a program in which I would be able to 'pin' various reference images for a model. Basically just making a collage of images to look off of while creating a model. I also use reference planes in 3DS Max but I find having other shots, 3/4 views, style references etc can help while modeling something, especially if it's a technical model. Having to click through image after image in the windows preview pane just doesn't cut it.

I've used Microsoft OneNote at work before, and I was able to do it there, however I don't have OneNote at home, so I was hoping to find a cheaper alternative. I'd really love to have a nice collage of several images on my other screen that I can just glance over to while I'm working. Thanks guys.

there is freeware image viewer that works quite well for this. xnview

    http://www.xnview.com/en/index.php

it takes a little bit of time to get the settings you want but you can hide all of the menus and have the image view 'float' above other programs. its also quite sable and you can also do batch file rename and some other tasks in it.

Pretty neat viewer there gray. I'm going to have to take a closer look at it, but at a glance it doesn't really seem to be what I'm looking for. I was hoping for something where I could have multiple images on screen, and not constrained to a grid view format. Something similar to what you see on tablets and such where you have a bunch of pictures on the screen and you can move around images, scale them to different sizes, and even have some overlapping a bit. I'm not sure if something like this exists, but if it does I'd really like to find it.

if you want to display multiple reference images on your desktop and work in your applications at the same time xnview will do that.

if you want some sort of tablet interface then i do not have any advice on that.

xnview works perfectly well for reference images. but you do have to download it, install it, and adjust the display setting.
