Zbrush Workflow Question

I've been developing a pretty solid workflow for modeling/sculpting hard surfaces and organic objects alike in Zbrush, mostly using masking, dynamesh master, and hard surface brushes, but I haven't figured out a good way to keep things "texture painting ready." Polygroups are the obvious choice but adding them in later on, (via masking/slicebrush) yields some tedious and undesired results. I wondered if anyone would mind sharing their workflows for keeping things organized and paint ready.
