Hell Crawler

Hey guys! I have been working on this guy for a week or two in my spare time, wanted to get some feedback! Made with Maya, Photoshop and Mudbox, rendered with Mental Ray.

Nicknamed as a hell crawler, this creature is often found lurking in the darkness. While not particularly threatening, the oddity of this creature and its affection for the night has given it a bad name among the local towns.

Bit redundant probably on the images, but I wanted to show the lines separately. I haven't really worked much with retopologizing / baking, this piece was about giving it a whirl ~ I worked from a medium res sculpt, creating a new topology ontop of it. My goal was to keep it under 10,000 tris so I am glad I hit that. Also wanted to try colored spec maps, so that was cool. The texture, the only thing that wasn't 100% me would be the blue web veins on the body - fancy web brush. Also no normal map for the eyes, didn't think he needed it.

This was a fun creature to practice, I already have my thoughts on it but any critiques / suggestions would be awesome!

Thanks,
Brian
