[Mixamo Contest] - Jeebs - Pirate Mog (WIP)

Hello everyone,

this is an interesting competition so I also wanted to enter.
I won't be making any concept art, I think this is allowed if read it all correctly, and I also got a permission from the concept art creator: Rabbiteyes (http://rabbiteyes.cghub.com/)

I am a fan of his work, and this is a perfect opportunity to make one of his works in 3d the one that I have chosed is a concept of a pirate, I will be working based on this

man thats pretty sweet. great detail, how did you do all the extrusions on the hat btw?

lolet: Thanks. First it was a flat surface hat (more like an accessory than a hat), then I made a copy of it, used inflate tool on the whole area to make it thicker, then marked some areas that I would need with masking tools, and inflated again, but this time inwards, and then just detailed the rest of the model, so those are actually two models over there. Hope everything is understandable, I'm not so good with english

Looking really good! Did you sculpt the face unsymmetrical? Because the nose looks a tad different from the two side angles.
But anyways looking rad!

Thanks for the notice Luke I actually made the face symmetrical, but it does look different from two angles, maybe I turned of the symmetry by accident when I was detailing the nose.. will have to fix it.

Hmm, rather strange that the conditions of competition are allowed to use foreign concepts, also
the rules stated that the character must be from the time period from 19 till this day and such character from same universe as Pirates of the Careabean sea placed in the first part of 18 century also it looks fantasy and i dont know is this allowed with rules, overall progress looks good.

Well I asked about the foreign concept directly, and I was told that it's ok as long as I am not infringing any copyrights. So I guess it's ok. As for the time period, I guess I didn't notice about the 19th century rule... Maybe I am braking the rules, however someone asked if it was ok to make a humanoid character (not human) and the answer was: As long as it has a head, two legs, two arms, and stands up right, you are free to interpret the theme as you like. So I guess we can add our fantasy here...
Anyway if I'm braking any roles then I will not submit the final images, but I will still finish the work, I like this concept soo much.

ppl are making aliens, demons and time travelers from the future, So I think a pirate is OK the rules are more like guidelines honestly =P

Got to agree with this. This is obviously a fantastical concept -- no pirate ever dressed like this in any period anyway. But it's coming along great. Live and let sculpt, I reckon.

As for all our previous contests, we like to provide you with a backstory to spark your imagination, and to give you some guidelines as Lotet mentioned... but for us, a lot of the fun in these challenges is to see how different artists interpret the same theme. Although the Voynich manuscript story is based on historical events, artists and writers from all over the world have used it as inspiration for fiction. That's what we had in mind for this contest. I hope this helps clarifying things a bit!

Hey there! Quick reminder that you still need to fully register to the contest so that we may provide you with free access to Mixamo's Auto-Rigger and Motions Collection. (You will need to take a few minutes to Auto-Rig and animate your character before submitting your entry.)

Here's how to register: Simply send an email to contest@mixamo.com and provide the following info:

Name: Your First and Last Name
Login: Your Mixamo login or associated email address
Source: Where you heard about this contest
Tools: 3D software you will use to model your character
Polycount WIP Thread: Your email must include the URL to your work-in-progress thread on Polycount so we can follow your progress
