Messing around with some textures/color this morning, also contemplating getting rid of the bottom half of the coat. Thoughts? Loads still to do in terms of sculpting, just experimenting as I won't be touching this for a week now due to travel/interviews!
Pretty dope! I get a very "Savage" feeling from DC comics. The character looks a little unfinished without the rest of the coat, but I understand your want to change it. Have you experimented with other coat tails, like something you would see off a tux; ie, the split tails, of the stubby short tail? Granted he's appears to be a dark character, he is still a gentleman in style just the same..:D
I dunno, I can't really see it but then again maybe I'm to close to the problem. From his hips to the base of the foot is the same height as the hips to the top of the head, which as far as I'm aware is right...
Maybe it's the FOV or the hat and bulkyness of the coat that make him look taller/wider?
i don't know, maybe it's a presentation issue, or something else, but i dont see any at your initial anatomy sculpt, but for last ones it looks like this:
Proportions are: from the chin there is 1 head to the nipple; from the tip of the head, to the crotch, around 4 heads; 1 head from the navel to the crotch etc...
Just move his pelvis up abit. Also low pants with such fitting folds around crotch, kinda creates illusion of his low pelvis. (well, atleast that's how I see the problem)
Other than that, I like the concept so far, reminds me of Van Helsing for some reason. Keep it up!
looks nice, great clean topology. might be a bit to saturated on the body and hands, while the hat and other accessories are a tad blocky.
how many polys did you end up with?
It's sitting at 8,700 tri's at the moment, so well under the 20k limit set. I'm going to get some textures sorted on it and then see how it looks with them applied, I guess I can easily add some geometry if some elements look a bit skewed
Looking good man, nice bake but I'd definitely plan on making more using out of the 20k limit! Just add as many poly's as you can to get rid of sharp edges!
Awesome! What a great job! It might just be from my perspective, but have you worked with other texture samples for the pants? There's something about the stripes, wheras the rest of the model is so high quality, and the pants texture, seems almost like a xerox stain, when the ink smears while printing. Is it possible there may be a more solid stripe pattern to use? But, like I said, I don't know if that is just from this perspective, angle..I could be wrong.
It';s not you , it was a surface modifier in Zbrush which didn't do the best job. This is about a 50% done (if that) diffuse, so still plenty to do and fix.

Need to do the hat, add the rope, tweak parts of the diffuse and differentiate some of the materials... Then onto rigging posing and extra bits...
