im looking for information about how to start building lol or dota2 maps
(im working in udk) what size are those maps? things like that.
does anybody knows?
Ah, Dota2 at least uses the source engine though, no? And to actually make them playable within dota2 itself you would certainly need the same engine..
It's something you are going to have to figure out yourself. There is no simple answer. Do you want to stick with the default scale in UDK? That would probably be easiest. Then you'll want to figure out the average character speed, and how long you want it to take the characters to walk across the map, compared to other MOBAs. Then you'll want to make sure there's enough room for the lanes and to have have large battles, but choaked enough to affect the engagements. It'll be some trial and error.
