Sup guys,
I didn't have much time to enter the previous contest, although I really wanted to.
So I'm gonna enter this one, looks fun.
-BRAWLER/'HIRED MUSCLE'
Big Thug guy, love for fighting and getting himself into trouble. Tattoos, lots of cool gear to help him on his journey.
-Off to claim
the Voynich Manuscript because of the lack of attention and money in his life, he always wanted to be famous. He thinks somehow this will be his break into fame and fortune
.
^ as simple as all this sounds, I'll post some sketches soon and see how he comes along.
Cheers guys!
-LATEST PROGRESS-
Replies
Just done a really really rough sketch, gonna do some more tomorrow.
-mustache (because they're rad)
-Waistcoat/tie
-ripped/sleeveless shirt underneath^
-bandages/boots/holdsters/belt (gonna try and think of more stuff for him)
-A watch (everyone likes to know what time it is)
-plus more (in later sketches)
-Also I think I'm gonna go for a stylized look, exaggerated proportions on the torso and face. Unsure at the moment though?
Concentrating on sculpting the head right now.
Turned out I sculpted more on the torso then I planned, its only gonna get covered by clothing. I shouldn't get carried away.
Anyway an update:
More or less sculpted the arms from scratch again, well and the torso. I keep being really picky.
Just trying to figure out the appropriate clothing for him, without hiding all the torso.
May just give him some jeans/trousers. With some sort of holsters on his thigh area.
Then bandages and a watch on the right arm. Possibly a backpack? Hmmmmm.
Great progress!
Just did a quick test by scaling his torso down a bit. Looks a lot better.
-I think his overall torso was too big for his legs, although when I was sculpting his legs I still made em pretty buff.
Crappy little paint over to see what approach I'm gonna take for the rest.
but I noticed one thing. I think the chest muscle is strangely connected to the shoulder muscles. also I think for this built the shoulders are a bit too small wathcing from the front view. but that's just my opinion will be watching this, good luck!
@Rpinto3d, Thanks a lot!!
Here's a quick render, I can never work out if I like Zbrush renders more or not.
@jeeps, this was rendered In Keyshot with two different materials. But works the same In zbrush really as long as you export your image twice the size and give it anti aliasing, use two different Matcaps and just change opacity of one of the materials in Photoshop. Usually gives me a good outcome if you sharpen it and play with exposure.
Anyways, great stuff, cool anatomy choices!
Another update, not quite sure if I'm calling the Highpoly done yet. One render in Zbrush the other in keyshot.
The sculpt looks amazing, have no crits there, but the character design is looking kinda generic and boring atm, what happend to the vest and the mustache?
Here's a close up:
You could maybe add a Bane type body jacket, have it open so you get to see the detail on the body whilst having that extra bit of clothing to make it look less 'boring' like Lotet says.
Looking great either way!
good luck
Still stuck on whether he should have a mustache or not.
I like the Idea Optinium said about the cheek scar and white eye.
Hmmmmmm:
And for straps I used the retopo tool in Zbrush to get the strap shape. Then I took into 3ds max and added the shell modifier. Then modeled the clips for the strap. Then took back into Zbrush. For the pouch all was made in 3ds max from a cube and then added creases and folds in zbrush.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense, let me know and i'll explain better
Bit of polypaint, I hate skin tones.
