Project Profiles for Gaming Projects

logo.png

Hey All :)

Just wanted to ping this your way. It's game related, and I figured this could be quite a useful tool for the various game projects out there.

I've created a site which aims to provide a series of mini websites, or profiles, for amateur gaming projects called EnGamer:

http://www.engamer.net/projects

The purpose of the site is to help projects, which dont have a website, to create an online presence to get them started.

Would this be something of interest to the Polycount community?

No offense dude...its a noble effort but what do these minisites offer that isnt available on indieDB, modDB or even steam greenlight hubs? Those have very large communities involved and loads of features...

No offense taken, that's a perfectly valid question ;)

As you rightly pointed out, the site is based on a very similar concept to ModDB.

One of the things we're aiming to achieve is the ability for our project pages to act more like independent sites, with each profile being a fully functioning website in it's own right with customizable areas (more to come over time).

The site will certainly boast a variety of joint community areas, however, we wanted to put the emphasis on individual projects than the community as a whole.

Think of a concept similar to Blizzard's websites. All share the same interface / components for consistency, but are heavily branded towards the intended project. We're aiming to achieve a similar result on EnGamer.

Another great advantage is that, being new to the scene, we're very open to suggestions and ideas from the community. This may not mean much at present, but it does give user's the chance to identify features they want (which rival sites may not provide) and get these added to the site should they prove popular.

Fully appreciate this is a bit of a leap as we're up against a lot of well established sites. However, being as dedicated as we are, I'm certain we'll be able to provide a useful service for many projects :)

    Quick update for you all,

I've added an RSS feed to each profile to help fans stay up to date with the latest updates for each project.

    Thanks for the feedback :)

For anyone interested, I've just updated the site with a new "Reviews" section so people can leave feedback and contrivute to your overall rating :) Thinking of adding some leaderboards to the site soon so you can compare your popularity against other gaming projects on-site :)

    Here's a good example: http://www.engamer.net/projects/reviews/poker-d
