First of all, I have to say that no aggression is meant to the mentioned artist(s) in any way possible. This post was made just with study purposes.
I was wondering if you guys can help me guessing which rendering & lighting techniques were used to make this kind of images in particular.

Material?
Which is the true complexity of this material? Phong because of the plastic look? How many nodes to get that look?

Lighting
I don't get if any Indirect Lighting techniques like Final Gathering or Global Illumination were used. Is that perhaps a three point light or any other light rig?

What I can tell (with my humble and poor skill) is that the camera environment was set to grey, that's why there are shadows but no real interaction with a planar surface. Also, I am pretty sure that an AO pass was used, to stand out those crevices, buttons and any other small detail. The AO is giving it the color?

Postproduction? Yes, maybe some curves to create a soft contrast. Also digging the complexity of this part.
