His films and effects were amazing. I've often said I'd love to work in film around that age of special effects. I have a Art of Ray Harryhausen book on my coffee table that I flip through regularly that I'm sure will be looked at tonight. And like was said above, his films still look fantastic and are so much fun to watch.
Just saw this on the fx lab as well, sad day indeed, I grew up watching his films every Friday with my mother, I clambered to rent the next "Hausen" as she called them.
I'm flicking my zippo and holding it aloft. Pour one out for a true legend of film history and special effects. His stop-motion creations were some of my favorite film memories. I would watch otherwise boring films just to see the few scenes with his work in action.
