Hi, guys!
I was watching the iron man 2 making of last saturday and they used a very nice technology to pre vis in real time the characters/shot (which I believe was also used ion Avatar and several others).
Anyway, what really got my attention was the possibility of animating the camera, by just by aiming the tablet, as you would with a real camera.
Since those movies aren't "new" per say, do you know if there is any company developing something similar for the masses?
It would be great to skip the whole camera keyframing.

That or they were simply using UDK with some GoW SDK assets.
The Cry Engine also have something similar if I remember correctly. You can see a demo with a guy in the jungle jumping from an helicopter.
One word - Motionbuilder
Alot of studios are using Motionbuilder for their performance capture and Mobu was used extensively ion Avatar, Tintin, Planet of the Apes, to name but a few.
We also now have a partnership with Lightstorm (James Cameron) and Weta to develop a new generation of tools for this type of work.
There's also some good information here from last years FMX

After posting this article, I came across some "virtual cameras" for using with maya and motionbuilder by Optitrack, but they are very expensive. Then I found this app called Camera Man for Maya. I don't have an Ipad/ iPhone to test it. It seems a little very limited, but it has a nice potential ... Has anyone tried it out?
