Which graphics pad should i get?

Okay, so im just about to start at college but have been wanting to get a tablet for quite a while now. The wacom bamboo create is in my price range but ive been told the intuos series is much better. I know there is a lot of other tablets out there and i just dont know which one to purchase.
any advice would be much appreciated. :D

Im willing to bet you wont notice the difference between a intous 5 and a bamboo. Theyre almost twice as expensive :O just for some extra pressure levels.

If size is an issue then yeah maybe you need an intuos but typically most art colleges have ones to rent or have them available in labs.

The Bamboo Create is a decent size, don't worry about the pressure levels, I doubt anyone can actually tell 256 and 512 apart.

I love my monopad. I found I didn't really like the bamboo and thought I just didn't like pads in general, but eventually grabbed a monopad and loved it. Not sure what happened in between to make a pad necessary, or if the bamboo and I just didn't get along,.

Stick with wacom, a bamboo will be fine to start off with.

Bamboo would be a good start. They are super cheap compared to other wacoms and are pretty good for the price. If your going to spend the money on an intuos...at least get the medium sized one. If your going to get the small one you may as well just stick with the bamboo.

You're safe with Wacom. The Bamboo is great to start off with, and if you're gonna get a Intous, like gsokol said, it's only worthwhile if you get at least a medium sized one.

Was wondering this too. My Intuos 2 has caught horrifying wavy line disease. I had a look at Intuos 5 medium but now I know about alternatives (I read that other thread from like 2 months ago.) and damn I'm confused. Was also wondering about splashing out on a Cintiq, the small one, I'm not rich.

well im doing a level 3 btec in games design. ive made some stuff in zbrush but it takes ages with a mouse and people said to get a tablet so here i am...
