Some models in the workshop have only maya and obj files?

Some of the heros don't have .smd files how am i supposed to rig the item without having maya? (I work with 3ds max)

U can decompile dir_1.vpk and get models. Look at this http://www.cyborgmatt.com/dota-2-model-viewer-guide/ After step 4 u should decompile .mdl and get smd from there
