First off, good luck on the test. It kind of seems like you're not taking enough time to block out the proper shapes before moving in for detail. A lot of it looks very doughy, like you've gone up too far in resolution too fast. For instance, the shape of the cuffs of the pants seem strange and indeliberate and the stocking-type things (going down the lower leg) are too thick and go in an odd direction at the top. Try going back to a lower res and shaping the subtools a bit more before increasing it again.
But the armor on the torso and shoulders looks pretty good so far. Keep it up!
The eyes seem too round compared to the concept. I would probably flatten the top of the eye at least around the top outer corners a bit. The jawline could be a bit more defined as well.
@SofaBound: thanks man! i see your doing the test too, Good luck to you as well. yeah i kinda got carried away with the block out, fixing it now. @yourname942: thanks for the advice! the eye shape has been killing mw, here is update on it.
Fİrst of all, great work on clothes and general overall figure. Also great willpower to keep work going.
Second you must really check concept for face area. Especially eyes. You may try to look for more concepts that focuses on her eyes. I had hardships myself with figures with so less concepts around and actually suffered from it.
So keep the awesome work going and try to find more concepts for the face Have fun mate
@TAN: thanks man!, and yeah the eyes needs work. I'm not Sure if i have time to go back, but I will try to fix them up. deadline is tomorrow, oh crap its tomorrow!.
DAMN!!,...... didnt finish by the deadline, well I'm Gonna power through the night and sent it in the morning!. hopefully they still accept it. here is first pass color
good luck, I admire you for realizing your limits, analyze em, compare yourslef to top artist and then try to push your way up there!
this attitute will get you very far, GLHF
Might be a lil late to say this but both the hands and ankles are way too tiny. Also the face could use some work. Just looking at it, I can tell you its the Norn female from guild wars 2 wearing what looks like their cultural armor. I would recommend trying to work the face into something a bit closer to the image posted below.
Given the company, the game and the concept art they gave you, they might be looking to see if you can look up what their characters generally look like.
A good thing to do is research the studio, their art styles and the games. Find out, if possible, what the concept art they are giving you relates to in terms of actual game or used art style.
Good job on the self analysis, it seems like you've learned a lot on this project. Try not to put yourself down, but it's great that you see where you need to improve. being able to critically analyze your own work and compare it to others is an invaluable skill, many people are blind to their own errors especially right after they've finished a project.
