hey,

i want to print my fist 3d model, which is fairly simple, but has functionality.

it is a document stand that is fold-able.

i have a couple of questions:

1. i modeled it in 3ds max using turbosmooth and the collapsed the stack and exported it as an .stl file and now its a bit blocky at the edges. will the 3d print soften some of those edges?

2. in netfabb (a program that checks for errors)the program highlighted some triangles. do they even matter?

3. this model consists of several parts, for example cylinders that go into tubes. i modeled them so that they are point on point. i guess that's too tight(tho turbosmoothing it made it a bit smaller), but i also don't want the parts to be loose. how tight should they be?

4. which 3d printing side do you recommend? i test uploaded the model to i.materialize.com and its very expensive. 207$ for a model that is a bit bigger than a4 paper, about: 250x335x28mm with simple plastic material. can that be?
