Viewport Canvas Textures

Hey guys, 1st thread! Have a question because I'm doing the Infinite Skills 2012 tutorial series for Max (I'm trying to teach myself Max) and I used the Viewport Canvas tool to paint a texture on a UV of an object, I finished it and it was saved as far as I know because the texture shows on the object when I render but in all the viewports it shows the object as transparent grey. Is there a setting that I'm missing to get the texture to show?
