Render problem with leaf planes

Hi,

I've got a problem with an obj. file I've imported into 3ds max.

Not all of my opacity maps are displaying correctly. I've checked normals and stuff but I can't seem to get these planes normal like the rest of them.

Any ideas?

Try turning off specularity, or using a spec texture map that has black in the transparent areas.

Although this didn't solve the problem completely it helped a lot! Thank you.

I basically just set the specular level to 0.

Do you have lights in the scene?
Do the same planes always glow when you move around the scene or just the ones that seem to be facing the camera?

Have you tried using normal thief? It will allow you to align the normals of a one object to another object. It helps to unify the lighting, really helpful when working with foliage made up of dense planes.

On the left, unmodified normals, looks like garbage.
On the right, normals aligned to the quadsphere using normal thief

Note: The quadsphere was inside the the mess of planes when normal thief was run, I moved it out after the fact so you could see it.
