Hand-Painted Paladin Lizard Game Character

I'm looking to tighten up the geometry a bit, make sure this thing is in a good place for rigging an animating before I get to texturing it. Once his geometry is magical and done ways I'm going to be doing hand painted texture for him, which I'm pretty pumped about. I'm looking to have him fully polished in the very near future.

He's a Kerian Paladin from the Order of Victus, lord of Electrovitalic Radiation, the armor is based on machines and electrical components, even though they don't particularly understand the technology behind it.

Any input, info, or questions would be most appreciated! This is also my first post here, I'm looking forward to being part of the community.

There's a few spots I'm seeing that you might be able to remove some edge loops. On his chin guard you've got a middle loop that doesn't seem to be doing anything other than adding polys.

The loop between the posts on his bracers, it looks like it's holding width but I think you can remove it and adjust the rest to keep the overall shape you want. Same goes for the greaves, the edge between the bolts could probably be removed and hold the shape by adjusting the rest.

It looks like there's one possibly two loops between his knee and first ankle that you could possibly do without.

I hope this aids your endeavors good sir. Those eyes are soooooo creepy.

I removed a few bits, messed with the topology of his shoulder, and took out a few edge loops that you mentioned, Mr. King.
He's a character that hassles the main character of a game demo I'm working on. I have the texture started, but hand painted textures are newish to me.
There's a lot of work to do, but this is my progress so far. :D

I'm generally pretty happy with how this is turning out, most of him is supposed to be covered in fur, and that's not really coming across at this point.

This is a great start! I think adding a bit of contrast would help greatly. The armor looks slightly tarnished- that could be fixed with a spec map or by adding more light in your painting as well as some saturation (The skin colors out-weigh the armor colors which may change when the fur is added). But I guess in the end throw this guy in the engine and see how the colors are effected. Also the chain mail skirt thingy seems a bit out of place it kind of stands alone. Maybe an ornamental cloth or something like you've got in the front? FINISH HIM!

Also- I'm interested on how you're going to work in fur on this guy... Have any color ideas?

It's easier to crit if you turn off shading when sharing your hand painted models by the way. Decent start though. I'm wondering if you plan to use a spec map with this or if it's diffuse only. Even if you do make a spec map later I think it helps to paint in some lighting and specular into the diffuse map.

This has a lot of potential, keep at it! I look forward to seeing the final result.

He is so adorable! It would be great to see some more variation in the green of his scales, maybe a bit of grime. Also, Chameleons have some interesting eyes, to the point that it looks like they have scales for the white/color of their eye. Like this little dude:

Adorable! I like where this is going. Do you have any updates? I am loving the hand painted scales on the top of his head!
If I was to be finicky, there is this horizontal line on the tail end that catches my eye and seems to be accidental. Also, the lines on the horn look like lines, ha ha. That might sound stupid, but what I mean to say is it looks like a wireframe left on during the render and I think the believability could be enhanced by lightening up the lines, blurring them, and adding a highlight right next to the lines to really show depth.
    Keep it up!
