I don't see a crash coming. The game industry is just constantly changing like it always has. It sucks losing your job but don't listen to the doomsayers, you aren't entering into the gloomy job market of 2008-2009

Best wishes to those affected. I will add that I am familiar with many people in other industries/businesses that were laid off during the last nine months and propose that we are more sensitive to such bad news impacting the VG industry, but that our industry may be doing better overall than many others. I hope so. I just bought two games yesterday that I really was not overly excited about, but the recent news convinced me to buy the games (as opposed to spending the money on something else).
Just seen the date of that article. It was created 11th June 2012.
I remember when those lay offs happened a while back. From what I understand talking to people who were let go this time around, it sounds like pretty much only management is left
no no......they brought a bunch of people back and then proceeded to lay them off again a couple days ago. also the whole temporary layoff thing is so they dont have to pay severance until the absolute last second if they truley cant bring people back. which means most people will have found new jobs after 3 months and the company doesnt have to pay severance to most of those effected. which is pretty sketchy.
also if you are collecting employment insurance for the 3 months of temp layoff.........its up to a max of 40% or so of your salary or a maximum of ~700 a week. which is a hell of a lot less than what they would normallly be making.

Huh? Game industry seems fine to me. Vancouver, on the other hand, not so good.
