Hey dudes,
working on a student project currently and I need to make a Pyramid, doesnt have to be anything fancy, I was racking my brains on how best to recreate a large scale pyramid which maintains its scale up close, do you guys have any suggestions?
Below is what I had in mind, the main problem being how long itd take to sculpt something like that/polycount/texture resolution etc

it's really a declining series of receding steps. depending on your editor of choice, there may be a automated way of approximating this type of structure quickly, since it's fractalish
Edit: just reread your post. Well I guess tesselation would be the best option here. From a distance it will retain a relatively low tri count till you draw closer in which it will increase to keep shape.
I would sculpt tlling section of bricks and another for the smoother section on top then model the pyramid and just play around with the textures.
then you can delete some parts and model a gap here and there and then unwrap it.
It's up to u and the use of the pyramid.. should it be walkable and climable, should it be some decoration from middle-range.. there are more factores that you should cover while creating this.
