Definitely do some basic realistic human studies and sculpts. Most if not all artists are judged on how well they can replicate the natural human figure. It's easy for artist to hide behind the guise of style and claim mistakes as intended details.
Also don't show renders on a black BG it looks quick and dirty and it's hard to see all the details without proper three point lighting.
The last render of your Pokemon is also a little too dark, hard to see the work you put into it. Don't be shy, about providing well lit renders for critique.
was watching a video and felt the urge to draw. I went for a volume study but went way to fast on focusing on areas. I need to work so much more on shape/proportions
you definitely nailed more human proportions correctly with hodor. digging those creases by the nose and the beard texture. these studies will really help you, do them every day!
Hey man, looks like you are starting to nail sculpting, and painting.
Good work!
I would really suggest with your digital painting to try and pat attention to how darks the darks really are in the references, compared to the midtones of the shadows. You should be pushing it as far as the reference or your copy will end up looking flat in comparison.
I don't know why but when I'm doing digital painting I always stray from the harsh volume changes. I've been trying to stop after awhile and take a step back and try to evaluate the volume change cause they keep coming out so flat. Ty for the tip:)
