Here's my next piece I'm working on. The main focus on the environment is the little shack/house thing.
Reference:
The house is currently sitting at 1778 tris (trying to keep it on the low side). I'd like to add a couple more details to the environment. Possibly some tires sinking in the dirt, some boxes, etc. The trees, plants and rocks were from a previous set I made.
I could really use some constructive criticism, as I'd like to add this to my portfolio. Thanks!

From this angle I'm not entirely sure but it looks like the walkway outside the house is too small. If you use the chair the guy is sitting in as a reference it looks to be about twice the width of that chair.
The windows appear to be centered half way down the wall on your model where the bottom ledge of the window is half way up the wall in the reference.
Are you going to add in anything in the background like the trees in the reference? If not it could be worth considering putting something there for composition reasons.
Good luck!
Thanks for the pointers!
I'd like to try and get it as close as I can to the reference I'm using. I'll definitely take the things you mentioned into consideration.
I see what you mean with the boards used in the reference. I'll be going back and fix that. Increasing the size of the walkway would also be fixed.
As for the background, I'll see how quickly I complete the work, then focus on the background once it's complete. I was originally going to just use DOF and fog to blur it off, but I do like your idea of filling it with trees.
- I fixed up the roof, the side boards on the house, and the size of the deck. I also created a few props (boxes, tires) and did some re-sizing to the assets textures made in the past (trees, plants rocks).
- My goal is to fit this whole scene on to 1 x 2048x2048. I've still got plenty of space on my map, which means more things will be added to the scene. I may also add a couple things that aren't in the original concept art.
- Fixed up the lighting to match the image more. More greenish blue, less baby blue.
Once again, constructive criticism is greatly appreciated
- About to hit the polishing stage. Added more props and such. I feel if I add anymore, it'll be too cluttered.
And... again... constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. :poly124:
and the water needs some work or you need to make the island on the back pop out more its hard to see there is water since its the same color as the sky
