I wasn't able to make it down to GDC.

Was anybody able to swing by the Quixel booth? What was the big unveiling?!

They made a scanner for real world objects that creates full textures.

They have a really smart setup that uses an array of LEDS and polarizing filters to capture diffuse, normals and specular data. Cool stuff indeed.

Here's a picture of the scanner itself. They had an iPad to show off some more about MegaScans, as well as the flythrough video of an environment and the site itself.

a huge scanner that scans objects at 8k x 8k then tiles it. and kicks out diffuse normal spec gloss. the normal looks like something out of zbrush. was blown away.

the last day at gdc, i was talking to teddy and they said they were working on a video to show off of some sort

Was this released yet? I would really like to see it in action, but I can't find new information related to Quixels megascan.

On their site - http://quixel.se/megascans/ - is sadly nothing new.

There was an image here with some info, showing a desert environment, it's either temporarily down or the link was removed.

Thanks, the picture from the Marmoset site looks really good. Can't wait to see more.

btw: it actually was Snefer's garden thread that reminded me of this thread.
