    There should be..
You can simply export a model/mesh and use this as the cage for xNormal. If you install xNormal there's also an option to export sbm files from max for it for the need of the cage.

On the other hand you can also create/edit the cage within xNormal iteself with the 3D Viewer.

Yes there is. When you set up a projection modifier, under the "Cage" panel you'll see [export...]. Clicking this pro,pts you to enter a name for the cage and when you hit "ok" there will be a new poly object created from your cage. Export this cage object as an .obj file.

Once you have loaded your meshes for baking into xNormal, navigate to the "Low Poly Meshes" panel. When you right click on the empty space you'll see an option for "Browse external cage file..." Click this and find your external cage .obj file that you had exported from Max. That is it.

You should do the obj export method that praetus suggested. I've tried exporting as an sbm, using the tutorial available on the xNormal website, and I always get issues with my normal map. But with the obj method it works just fine.

Also, exporting your cage and turning it into an actual editable poly gives you the flexibility of the loop and ring tools (and other selection methods) that aren't, and should be, available in the projection modifier.
